Our Journey.

I am seriously still in unbelief sometimes that I have been the wife to my holy hunk for two whole years now! Well two years and one month to be exact!

The other day right after I kissed my man in uniform goodbye before leaving for his night shift I couldn't help but think to myself just how far we've gotten since the day we first met and how much more we're going to grow in these next few years and the many years after that. God's gotta plan for this Marriage and I'm so excited to see where it's going to go!

So that night I decided I was going to take our memories, lessons, triumphs and tribulations and write about them.. To go back and look at them in the future and also being hopeful that you might not only enjoy them but be encouraged by them as well.. I am a firm believer that every one has a story that can be used as encouragement to someone else.

You ready to hear about our journey??

Our first meeting.. (Years before the actual first meeting.)

I was a fourteen year old homeschooler who didn't get out much and He was a popular goth kid who was not just popular in Church but school as well.. I mean look at this gorgeous face!

....And then there's me on the right.

My only friend who wasn't a sibling, goat or dog invited me to her 14th Birthday party and I was so excited to go. Not knowing I was going to meet this handsome goth kid with an earring and bad boy written all over him..

After we got there he introduced himself immediately and I was sold. If he were to ask me to marry him that second I would have on the spot. I was instantly in love infatuated as a fourteen year old could be.

I actually remember having a lot of fun that day.. I got to hang with the cool kids who went to public school,  and get flirted with by a twelve year old  and also with a young goth boy named Leon by picking me up in the water and flipping my water tube over. And when my mama saw the young man I had my eyes own well, lets just say she didn't approve!... As an no way... As in Heather leigh have you lost your mind child?

A few hours later we left.. We said goodbye but there was no number exchange or nothing..

My friend Lizzy tried to hook us up more than once.. by planning pool parties and stuff but I never made it.. So instead her and I just talked about him and she told me how he was doing and what he said when I told her to tell him I liked his earring. *face-palm*

Last I heard from him he was madly in love with the ministers daughter.. So I thought there was no hope for me. That's when I let him go.

Our second meeting.
Years later when I was eighteen I volunteered at our Church bread pantry with my mama and two younger sisters. It was something we looked forward to every week. As I was walking with my one year old niece around the huge church garden I happened to look over to see that man I never thought I would
see again.
There he was! Leon. The one man I never thought I'd see again and haven't even thought about for years. I couldn't believe my eyes and at the time I really believe it was The Holy Spirit telling me it was Leon considering I haven't seen him in over four years and his looks changed completely.. How else could I have known?

Fridays came and Fridays went and there were no words that were said between him and I. My mama told me many times to go up and talk to him  but me? That wasn't how I rolled! So, I would just walk along the church property and stalk him instead.  ha ha totally just kidding!

It was about three months when I walked boldly into the church building convinced that I was going to stop playing childish games and re-introduce myself to him just to  find that he wasn't there.. Once again Mr eye candy disappeared and was nowhere to be seen.. And because of that I thought he was gone for good.

Come back next week to finish reading!! =D

Some Java for the Mama. My new online weekly devotional

Hey Ladies, Happy Thursday! How is your week going? Great I hope!
I wanted to share with you this morning a new series I'm starting called  "Java for the Mama".

I got this idea after reading Faith's new blog post called "Jesus time for mama's." Have you read it?? That's what I thought.. Go read it now! :) It's such a great reminder of how much we need that Jesus time every day. I know for me if I don't get it I'm just one big unmotivated lush all day. I feel dry, impatient, unmotivated and just unhappy and that's not good! Especially for the little life that depends on me every second of the day. How can I enjoy life if I don't spend it with the One who gives me a reason to be joyful?

So, ladies. I'd like to introduce to you my very new series called "Some Java for the mama".. A place to get your encouragement and Spiritual caffeine every Thursday morning.

My prayer for this series is to not only build a community of  mamas but also women who are not yet mamas.. I believe with all my heart that this devotional will benefit you because even though you don't yet have biological children you may have some children who are like your own, you may nanny and I guarantee that there is some little love out there who looks  up to you and even if you don't you could certainly apply a majority of it to your life.

I desire for this series to build a sisterhood and just energize you with everything you need.

                                                      You guys with me?

Finish this #4

Linking up with these ladies (Nicole {Three 31Lisa {The Coastal Chicster}and Becky {The Java Mama} Jen {The Arizona Russums}) for a new weekly series called Finish This.

1. I use my "green thumb"  to attempt to start a flower garden and grow veggies but it doesn't always go well!! However, this year I'd like to give it another go without having any plant funerals.

2. The secret to life is...Being sold out for Christ!! I'm still learning to this day that when you give every aspect of your life to Jesus He can take that and run with it further and quicker than you ever could.

3. I get my money's worth by...Flea marketing, yard sailing, and excepting hammy downs. I also try to make my own foods most of the time like applesauce, breads, muffins. When I found out I was pregnant with E we literally had nothing! But God has provided so much for us and also gave us the opportunity to receive a high chair for only 10$ a Bassinet for 15$ and changing table for 4$ and a crib for free. I have only spent about 100$ on Evelynne's clothes since she has existed and I'd say that's pretty good!

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, my level of organization is...Haha! It depends on what you mean by organized?? I'm organized in my brain.. I'd have to say that would be a 10 but my house on the other hand would drive you organized mama's bonkers! However, it's a trait I'm willing to improve on. :)

5. A gentleman always...Cherishes his lady and treats her like a princess. He holds the door open always, pays for the meals and surprises her with random starbucks... :)

6. Handwritten notes are... The best!! I love to receive handwritten notes and I'd rather write them as well.. I feel like they're so much more personal that e-mails and texts and it shows on a bigger level that you are thinking of them!

My life isn't at all how I imagined it would be.

I had my life all figured out when I was younger. I was going to graduate high school, go to college, find a quick way to get out of debt from college, get married to my church crush (I wouldn't dare mention his name on here!!!!) and be a stay at home mama. (that part came true!) I was going to have a huge wedding with a guest list of 500 and I was going to have 8 bridesmaids and our honeymoon was going to be in Paris! After that we'd come home to our dream house and get started on babies a year later while traveling the world on missions trips and raising children who didn't have homes. I think I spent more time thinking about my future than actually preparing myself for my future ha ha!
Well, I never went to college.. It just never happened. My life was getting really crazy at the time with family and college just wasn't something I made time for even though it would have made a great escape!

My church crush turned out to be nothing I was looking for in a husband and to be honest.. I don't think he was interested in me in the first place and obviously I didn't become his stay at home wife... Thank God!

And I never did have my big wedding. It was a very small wedding with a guest list under 50. Like I said earlier there was a lot of drama going on where I lived so planning a wedding was  not  a fun experience.
So Leon and I were married with the help of friends and our pastor in a hotel ball room.

Our Honey moon was not in Paris right across from the Eiffel tower but more like Ocean city in December for a weekend. It was so cold but it was nice.. We never went outside anyways unless we were getting food!

Instead of coming home to the dream house Leon and I both decided to share a townhouse with his mom and sister until we all got on our feet better financially considering I only worked at Panera bread and Leon was a house inspector who only worked when there was work..

Oh and waiting a year to start a family didn't happen considering we were blessed to receive the positive pregnancy test just three months after Marriage.

And we have not yet been on a missions trip.

Yep, my grown up life is nothing like I expected it to be... but it's way, way better!

Both my hubby and I never went to college and though we are in a very tight space with money at the moment we are living a debt free lifestyle which is something we both plan to keep that way.

I am married to the man of my dreams that God provided for me!! I now see my old crush on facebook and well, I love my husband more than words could say!

We haven't been on a Missions trip (yet!) But God has given Leon and I so many opportunities to witness and love people around us!

I never did have my big wedding and I was very upset about that at first but it's okay.. I would get married in a cave if it meant I could be with my man for the rest of my life.
F.Y.I I am not taller than my hubs.. I was just wearing some huge heels ;)

We had sooo much fun in Ocean city.. No one was there so Leon and I had the entire beach to ourselves. We ate fives guys, ice cream, watched movies and sat in the hot tub... at the same time ;) We also had such a beautiful balcony with a gorgeous scenery of the ocean.

Living in a townhouse with my mama inlaw and sister inlaw has helped me grow so much as a person. It has made me stronger in so many ways and though we are at an end to us living together I'd have to say I'm gonna miss them being a few rooms away.

And finally my precious girl! Finding out I was pregnant just three months after Leon and I  were married was the most joyful and most terrifying day of my life. We were in no way prepared for a baby I mean we've barely been living together for 3 months, I just quit my job at panera because they weren't giving me enough hours and Leon had his house inspector job that wasn't dependable. But God has shown us in so many ways just how faithful He is during this process and He has provided our every need for this little one.. She has honestly lacked nothing and blessings seem to just keep coming her way. I honestly wouldn't delay her existence at all if I could. She has made out family complete and has made it stronger with love!

We've started out as fellow bloggers, to friends, to sisters and it is just so so amazing how God could use such a thing as blogging to bring us together. and we want that same relationship with you. That's why Sarah and I decided to start this fun random link up is because we wanted to find fun ways to get to know you and meet more of you! Will you join our very random community?
Each Month Sarah and I will pick a topic. It may be a vlogging month, a month of encouraging posts. anything. Some months we'll ask the questions and other months we just want to hear your thoughts and your heart. Have a topic or question  idea?  We'd love to hear it!

Evelynne's 14th month.

I missed her 13th month just because she turned 13 months on Christmas and we were super busy that month. So are you ready for an Evelynne overload?

At 14 Months Evelynne is:
running!! Well, more like walking faster.
Playing chase and loves to throw balls
Saying:  Dada, Up, dog, cat, and Ga (short for Grandma) Ah (short for Auntie Ashley & finally mama. (Only when she's mad or winy but I'll take it.)
She loves to imitate us and is trying to do and say what we're doing and saying.
 Dancing
Shaking her head no.
waving bye bye
Very interested in stairs and cabinets. yikes!
cuddling a lot more! yay!!
playing peek-a-boo
walking backwards

Nicknames: Evie, Piglet, Little love, Princess, munchkin and sweet pea
Evelynne is loving:
Mr. Giraffe.
Sophie the giraffe
Pinky the giraffe
Bunny
& Mr bear.
(She picks which stuffed animal she loves more every day!)
whip cream.
(Every time she sees me with a starbucks or coffee she knows!!)
Bananas and all kinds of fruit.
Her veggie smoothie
Her rocking horse
Being outside.
Getting out of the stroller and walking on her own.
When dada comes home.
Being read and sung too.
Darlene Zschech.
                                                                               Being chased around the house!

                                                                                         Evelynne doesn't like:
Being told "no"
time outs. Yes, we started the time outs.
A majority of veggies (Which is why I've been giving her veggie joice)
Nap time.
Eating:
I had her almost weaned completely from nursing but then she decided she hated all kinds of milk so I started nursing her once a day again until I can get her to start drinking it.
She pretty much eats everything we do in smaller forms. The girl loves to eat!

Daddy:
Leon is so good with Evelynne now.. I absolutely love watching them play together. Parenting didn't come naturally to Leon at first but I'd say he's a pro now.. He still refuses to change diapers but I don't mind lol As long as He changes them when I'm not home which he agreed to do! With him working night shift it's hard for him to get one on one time with E due to both of their schedules so Leon and I both decided that when he's up he's going to do Evie's bedtime with her. I think that will be so wonderful for the both of them and also give this mama a nice break.
Mama:
T.I.R.E.D and to be honest with all of this cold weather I'm getting a little outside deprived. However, other than that I'm doing great! Watching Evelynne grow up and change is so exciting for me to see.

                                                                                   What I'm looking forward to:
Evelynne saying more words
All of us moving in a few months

Some videos from these last two months :)

Happy Mondays love!! Don't forget to link up with us for our LAST vlogging link up! We wanna know why you started your blog? :)

Mommy Moments link up

Hey guys!! Just a heads up my blog is in the process of being prettified just in case you're wondering if it looks ghetto. xoxo
Hey mamas!
Welcome back for another great week of Mommy Moments Link Ups! Thank you for linking up and for spreading the word last week! We love all of the great posts!

Motherhood has it's seriousness and frustration as well as it's laughs. That's why we are here. Life is much easier when traveled with companions! So mamas, let's join together in the spirit of motherhood and share our moments together. We want to hear the happy, sad, tough, terrible, hilarious moments that make being a mother the best job in the world!

This week's most viewed link belongs to Brittany from Sweet Country Roots. Her post was my favorite last week as well as she addressed the question we all dread "Are You Having More Kids?"
It's time we stop letting our culture tell us how many kids is "appropriate". That is something between ourselves, our spouse and the Lord!

Meet these incredible ladies!

                                                                  Meet Charlene.

From Bisons to Buckeyes, and Beyond

-Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because after my husband and I got married, we moved 500+ miles away from everyone we knew. I wanted my family and friends back home to be able to keep up with us better than the occasional Facebook status.

-What is your favorite post you have written and why?
My favorite post is probably "I Live for Little Moments Like This..." (http://mrsmaugeri.blogspot.com/2013/06/i-live-for-little-moments-like-this.html) because it was fun to right and the response I got was great. I love writing about our life and marriage. Really that whole "From One Year and Beyond" series was pretty great...

- Where do you get blogging inspiration?
I try to write about my life and little things that happen that spark creativity. But if I get stuck, I get inspiration from other bloggers. When I'm going through my Bloglovin feed and I see and Idea I like, I make a note. If I write that post, I make an effort make it my own and I make sure to give the other blogger credit.

                                                                        Meet Jessy

  1. What’s in your closet right now?
I have a lot of things in my closet! Clothes- summer and winter, a plastic tub full of home decorations, our emergency bag consisting of all important paperwork, (that I’ll grab during a fire or emergency where we have to flee), my wedding dress, shoes, and scarf collection! It’s a semi big closet, but I do have way too much stuff!

2. Where do you get blogging inspiration?

From my brain. 😊 Seriously! I’ve wanted to blog for a couple of years now, but my life was a bit crazy and I wanted to be able to devote myself to it fully. So, I’ve been keeping a running list in my head, of everything I wanted to write about. Naturally, I’m not the Rain Man, so I’ve forgotten most, but the well isn’t dry yet! I still have about 20 topics yet to be published!

3.If you could visit any places in the world, that you haven't visited yet, where would it be and why?

ASIA!!!! I’ve been in love with the Asian culture since I was little. I’m more obsessed with Hello Kitty than my 7 year old niece! In particular, I want to go to Japan. While living in Hawaii, I had quite a few Japanese friends, and the stories they would tell of Japan made me want to go there even more! I love the beauty in simple things that they strive for. Husband’s not a big fan, he’d rather our next adventure to be South America, so we will see who wins this one!

Hurt for them.

Today I'm  linking up with Lauren    & Hayley  for the Girl between the lines today! And today, my answer comes with a story haha! Enjoy!

Girl Between the Lines Link up
I'm still learning.. Learning to let me go and let God live through me..  To die to self and let Him live, speak and soar through this body.

I'm gonna be honest today, It's still hard for me sometimes to let go of self.. Self feelings, desires, and hurts.

When I'm hurt by someone else It's easy to forgive them but it's hard to let the hurt from what they have done go. And my question is why is that? Why is it hard to let hurt go? It's certainly not because we enjoy the feelings of hurt, sadness and pain.. When I'm wronged I'm usually over it by the next day  but to me that is still way to long. Those are hours, minutes, seconds God could be using to bless someone else but instead I'm soaked up in woes.

The other day someone hurt me.. My precious feelings were offended over something so little. However, my feelings were hurt. And that's when my husband came up saved the day and preached to me a little sermon (On a note I love it when he does that!) He said.

"Heather, Don't let it bother you, and don't think bad towards them. Our fight is not against flesh and blood but the devil.. He used them to hurt you even if they didn't mean to do that. Don't let it bother you. Hurt for them and not from them". "

Seriously, my hubby is like a daily devotional at times. It's just what I needed to hear to turn that frown upside down. So, I forgave them and had instant joy!

Sometimes it's so easy to forget to remember that our fight is not with flesh and blood. But its  against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (see Ephesians 6:12)

It's so easy sometimes to live in the flesh and use our rebuker button on people when we should be using it on satan. The one who wants to ruin our lives. His condemned booty has nothing else better to do, obviously!

So today friends, I not only desire to encourage you today but also myself.
Today and forever more I desire to hurt for those and not from those who have tried to hurt me.. And you know, it's a possibility that wasn't even their intention or goal.. But nonetheless, I'll pray for them.

And I'll rejoice with the fact that I have the kind of Jesus freedom that isn't bound to condemnation, to not being good enough, to the world, and to people. We only have to answer to One and One only. And His thoughts are much more precious towards us than anyone.. I say we listen to His thoughts on us.

What say ye?

The very random link up!! #2 (Vlogging month)

Hey loves!! Welcome back for our second week of TVRL!! Co-hosted with  bestie Sarah!

How it works.

Each Month Sarah and I will pick a topic. It may be a vlogging month, a month of encouraging posts. anything. Some months we'll ask the questions and other months we just want to hear your thoughts and your heart. Do you have a topic idea? We'd love to hear it!
This weeks question is?
What are three things that you are believing for in the year of 2014?
Ready. Set. go!

& With both Sarah and I moving this year we are both very curious to what your dream house looks like! SO that's the question for next week!!

What does your dream house look like??

                                                    Much love!! xoxo Heather

The day I caught my hubby watching Downton.

I've always loved British shows.. More so the one's that are historically inspired. Which comes to no surprise that the first time I watched Downton Abbey I was instantly hooked. Leon and I don't have cable and we honestly can't stand the fact that Downton leaves us hanging after every episode so it's kinda tradition that hubby and I wait until every season comes out on dvd and buy it along with goodies, hot chocolate, and s'mores and we sit over at our fire place and enjoy life until someone on the episode dies here in the life of Downton Abbey..

I was the one who brought Downton in the picture when I heard all of these bloggers  talking about it! Downton this and Downton that and "Downton is the best show ever!"  So I had to check it out!

Thankfully my Aunt had the  first two seasons so I got to borrow them from her. I was still so early in my pregnancy with Evelynne and still struggling with morning sickness that all I did for the past few weeks was nibbling on the things I could eat, throwing up the things I couldn't and watching Downton Abbey while listening to the hubby smurf about how a real man never watches Downton Abbey because it's so feminine..

So what happens after one night of me falling asleep to Downton in our bedroom.. I wake up in the middle of the night just to see hubby with Cheez-its, popcorn, soda and all the other goodies watching Downton Abbey.. Episode after Episode. He made it all the way up to episodes I haven't  even seen yet!

"Baby, baby go back to sleep it's not what it looks like!!" **chuckles

"Hmmm.. Hubby you better hand over your man card! Now pass the cheez-its. haha"

So, that's when it happened.. That was the night when hubby went from a Downton hater to lover.. I even caught him shedding a tear or two when some of our favorite characters died.. He says it's just me but I'm sticking with what I know I saw.

                                                   The End
Don't forget to link up with us for The very random link up #2. We're vlogging about three things you are believing for in 2014!!

The Most important thing I can teach my daughter.

When I found out I was pregnant I was super excited about the responsibility God has anointed and blessed me with. It's something I take very seriously and I feel it should be.

I look forward to teaching my daughter so many things. To read, write, to find  beauty in the simple things in life. But  I believe really the most important thing I can teach my daughter, reveal to her and encourage her to receive and to know,  is her true identity in Christ! Because so many in the world are going to try and deceive her, and tell her who they think she is.  It is so important that those things don't matter to her and that the only opinion that should and does matter is from her Heavenly Beloved,  Father and King.
To remember that she is beautiful beyond compare. Not because of her looks or what she wears.  But to remember that she is beautiful because God made her that way. He looks at her, adores her and knows what He has made is really good!  Genesis 1:31

To remember that she is the Victor and never the victim. Because she is the true daughter of the most High God. A spiritual warrior that cannot be defeated.

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." -1 Corinthians 15:57

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. -Philippians 4:13

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. -Romans 6:14

To remember not to fear because she is perfectly loved. And that nothing can harm her. To know that she has the authority to stomp serpents, to heal the sick, raise the dead, and no evil thing will come near her. To know that evil is powerless when the Children of God are unafraid. And that God has given her the Authority to do such things.

There is no fear in love but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

-1 John 4:18

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. That she has the very abundant life that God has given to her through His Son.
-1 John 4:17

And when He had called unto Him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
-Matthew 10:1

I want Evelynne to know that even Before she was conceived God knew her and sanctified and anointed  her.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. -Jeremiah 1:5

She is the Bride of Christ. And she is cherished and crowned with glory and honor.

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory-Colossians 1:27

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
-Psalms 8:5

And She was created for His Glory to do the Mighty things that God has anointed her  to do. And only she can do!

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. -Revelation 4:11

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. -Isaiah 43:7

And that she can go to Jesus with anything and He will answer her and show her mighty things in His Name.   Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. -Jeremiah 33:3

I have mentioned before that I believe the most important thing for a woman to know or anyone in general is to know their Identity in Christ! Because once they know that. Nothing will be able to stop them. Not fear, not condemnation, not people, and not even circumstances! When we know our identity in Christ we are dangerously unstoppable!

I want to teach my daughter these things because I believe it is the most important thing a Born again Christian can know. If they don't know this, they will be stomped on and deceived by what the world thinks they are.
My desire and dream is that my daughter knows who she is in Christ. That she can stand tall as a believer looking down to no one.

To have such authority and boldness  in Christ and allowing Him to work miracles in her life.

My  prayer is that what people say doesn't move her but instead,  what she says moves other people.

That she can stand inline at a grocery store and not envy or be discouraged by the half dressed model in a magazine, but instead pray for her and pity her.

To not be effected by piers, but instead her piers be effected by her.

I believe God has given Leon and I such responsibility by placing this little love  in our hands. A responsibility we will take most seriously. I can't tell you how blessed I am to be a mama!
