Where do you store your treasures?

When our Savior comes and it’s time for us to see our home, may we not be strangers. Until then, let’s carry a picture of our homeland in our hearts. May it be as familiar as our own backyard. May we be ready when our “hometown hero” comes....Read More at http://ibibleverses.christianpost.com/?p=17961 #devotional #home #heaven
For the last three months or so I've had this post on my heart. But  life has been getting in the way of blogging recently and it's a rarity that I feel like blogging when I lay down.

I haven't written a post like this in a long time.. And God knows I haven't been in the word consistently for  months now. But I'm glad that doesn't stop Jesus from speaking to me and constantly opening my eyes to things that they constantly need opening up too.

Friends, For the first three months of pregnancy I was struggling with ungratefulness. I was struggling so much with what I didn't have and I didn't focus on the wonderful things I did have.

Maybe It has to do with the emotions from pregnancy or just being an easy  target for the enemy to steal my joy because of exhaustion and not keeping up on God's word. But God is always fighting for me and has been The Word to me and reminding me of The Word when I'm way tired to read it myself.

I have been in want lately. As exciting as my life is right now with my beautiful daughter constantly making me smile, a hard working, loving husband and our new precious baby on the way I wasn't happy with where I was in life. We're still renting a townhouse after almost three years of marriage.

By now I thought Leon and I would own my dream house with all of my dream furniture and decor. And it has been hard for me to watch other moms in blogger/pinterest/instagram raising their happy children in their beautiful pinterest worthy homes and then here I am in the townhouse we're renting with old furniture. I was really in need of a heart change.

Recently I was on instagram going through a friend's page who recently had a house built for her and her family. I was so excited for her but at the same time I wanted to be in her shoes. I prayed and told Jesus I wanted what she had and as always He has the best comebacks.

"Stop focusing on improving and gaining treasures here on earth when you have treasures to be stored in Heaven".

After He spoke to me so many things in my heart came to light. I was so focused on things I wanted in my life here on earth that what I want in Heaven hasn't even crossed my mind.

If  you were to ask me before why I wanted a big nice house with the latest trends and furniture I would have told you because I want my children to have the best...

But I see now that maybe that's not the whole case. Maybe I wanted what I thought was the best. Maybe I wanted everyone I knew to love where I lived. Maybe it's ungratefulness and maybe it's  pride as well.

Maybe I was thinking these things and desiring these things with my children's best interest at heart but what I was really giving them is a ungrateful mama. And even though I didn't realize it I was planting ungrateful seeds in their lives. By being ungrateful I was teaching my daughter to be ungrateful by telling Leon how I wasn't satisfied right in front of her.. Maybe we do teach our kids how to sin?

I'm so grateful that God has opened my eyes and I'm so glad that He continues to show me things that need to be seen in my life. I never in a million years want my kids to look back at their mama and remember me as the mom who always wanted more in her earthly kingdom but instead I want a legend that demonstrates these two verses.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.-Matthew 6:19-21

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. -Matthew 6:33

I don't want to give my children everything here on earth and I don't want their happiness and love for me to be based on that. But instead I want to give them the things that can't be stolen, or ruined or become old. I want to plant in them the desire to seek after God's Kingdom and His Righteousness. Because treasures here on earth can only fulfill for a time but God's treasures can fulfill for eternity. And that's where our desire is.

So my friends, I see my dream home a little differently now.. It's no longer a huge kitchen, with gorgeous furniture, and a beautiful back yard. Those things are nice but like Matthew says these things will eventually wither away and Lord knows furniture will ruin even faster with kids. But instead my dream house now is the house my Father has prepared for me and it's my favorite Home!

Friends if you have been struggling like I have I deeply encourage you to soak up this song.
Remember that it's  impossible to have an ungrateful heart when your hands are lifted high.
Much love to you all!

Have we connected on Instagram??

HAVE WEEE!?!? Because I finally have one and I'd love to connect with you.

Why did it take me so long to create one? There are a lot of reasons.

Firstly, I didn't have a smart phone until now... gasp!!! I have been debating about getting one for the longest time now because for one I hate spending money! I mean I love it but I hate it.

Secondly,  I'd be walking around with the temptation to stalk people every second of the day. I thought maybe I'd forget about my own life and what I'm doing?

But after a push and a nudge I finally decided to get one and I'm never going back to your ordinary flip phone.I think I'm in love. ;)

So now, I have an instagram. A place to post more pictures of my loves *swoon! And  post mini blog posts on days my loves keep me busy.  I'd love to be Insta friends!!

How sign Language has helped our daughter communicate.

I've always been a fan of teaching babies sign language. Some say it hinders them from speaking at all but I disagree when the words are said with the sign.

I started doing signs with Evelynne when she was around five months but stopped soon after because I thought she was going to start talking on her own soon enough because she was so advanced in everything else but it came to my surprise when her 1st Birthday came and went and she couldn't say anything yet other then "dog" here and there.. Not "Mama" or "Dada" or even "No" which I was certain she'd pick up quickly.

I'm not gonna lie I was a bit concerned because all of her little friends were talking and some could even have small conversations while my girl still babbled. I wondered if I was doing it wrong, or if I needed to start saying more words to her and trying harder to make her say them. I even considered putting her in classes. But after a few mamas reminded me that children learn to speak at different times and not all of them are early talkers. That made me cool down a bit.

So after the thirteen month mark and still with no words and a lack of patience because she was constantly trying to tell us what she wanted. Leon and I decided to bring back the sign language and it was really one of the best decisions we've made so far.

We started out with simple signs like "please" & then we went to "eat" & "drink" and then we did "more"  And the more we signed with her while saying the words with that sign the more she got the hang of it. She was signing like a pro!

What sign language did for Evelynne.
-It taught her that there are better ways and quicker ways to get what you want without whining.
 - It taught her how to communicate more effectively.
- It's teaching her to pronounce words and it's meaning as we show her the sign and say it.
- It has helped her to realize that she won't go far with whining.
-It has helped her to understand not only what we're saying but she knows what she's saying too!
Baby Einstein - My First Signs

This video has probably been the most helpful tool for teaching Evelynne Sign language. She loves the music and it was so easy for her to take in.

We are back with week three of our series and hopefully this helps you other mamas to find out how to help your toddler communicate!  Make sure to check out the other 10 wonderful mamas who are posting with me this week.  And don't forget to write your own post and link it up below!

18 weeks update with Baby bear #2

Dearest Little one, This pregnancy feels like it's starting to fly by! Though your big sister may have something to do with that because I'm chasing her everywhere. I'm excited to be able to do that with you too! Wow eighteen weeks. I'm getting more and more excited and we thank God for you my sweet child every day.

I just know that God has such amazing plans for your life and that He will bless you with every desire of your heart. Y0u are going to touch so many lives all for the glory of God.

I'm going to get a sonogram soon so I'll get to see your sweet face again. Last time you were kicking and smiling so I'm excited to see what you'll do for us this time! Plus it's about the time when we'll get that gender confirmed. YAAY!

You are so healthy and your growing so fast! I feel like my stomach gets a little bigger every few days.

I'm so blessed and honored to be your mama sweet baby cub! And I hope I show that to both you and your sister Evelynne every day.

You're gonna go far, kiddo!

xoxo- Mama bear.

Baby R's Stats!

Baby's size:  5.6 in // weight  6.7 oz

How far along:
18 weeks!!

Sleep: Sleep has been much better these last couple of days. For the most part I'm actually waking up nice and refreshed.

Maternity Clothes: My body is going through the awkward pregnancy stage. I'll probably bring out my maternity clothes soon.

Food cravings: I'm starting to love my usual healthy foods again. I'm so grateful for that due to the fact that the second trimester starvation has started. For breakfast I ate a bowl of cheerios, greek yogurt and whole wheat toast.. with coffee!!! I never eat that much so I feel like I ate a lot! Other then that. I'm still craving Italian white pizza, and pizza with goat cheese.

Food aversions:
I've recently discovered that the #7 chick-fil-a  grilled chicken and I are officially broken up. It used to be my favorite sandwich there but the last two times I went there it has made me nauseous. I'm liking the fried though and so is Evelynne. I think she would always prefer fried though. I'm just that mean mama who gets her the grilled.. Can't do that now that I'm eating fried because I don't want to be a hypocrite. ;)

Symptoms I HAVE: The morning nausea still visits now and then, and lately I've been dealing with my leg going out on me. I had that problem with Evelynne too but walks always seem to help.

Doctor’s Appointment: I had one two weeks ago  and I got to hear my sweet baby's heartbeat for the first time!! My heart is captivated once again :)

Movement: Feeling movements mostly when I'm laying down. Loving it! I can't wait until Leon can feel it.

Belly Button: Innie but it's starting to look like a pregnant innie.

Best moment of the week:
Watching Evelynne feed a baby doll with the bottle.... She's going to be such a great big sis!

What I’m looking forward to:
Going to my gender sonogram!!! I'm making the appointment today.

What I miss: Having the energy to wake up early in the morning. Man I was so much more put together when I did that.

Big sister:  Evelynne is going to be such a good and protective big sis! She's learning to throw diapers away and picking things up! She is also slowly starting to like dolls!

            Pregnancy Comparison.

Evelynne Lorain                                                                      Newest Little love

It looks like to me I'm carrying lower this time around. What are your thoughts? Sorry that my bump is so hard to see with the dark purple dress.. It's now my "no baby bump picture" dress. ;)

You're 20 months, Kid!

Evelynne's 19th Month update.

Nicknames: Evie,  Little love,Sweet pea, munchkin, Princess, Baby Bear. (Because she's been cuddling with mama much more then usual.) *swoon
Favorite activities// This girl has been running. She loves doing it. When we go for our walks she loves to run to each tree and play peek-a-boo! My heart melts at this girl.  Though on a downside to this running passion Evelynne thinks it's funny now to run away from Mommy.. It has been testing this mamas patience. It sure is a good thing God gives us an over flowing supply of it. She also is loving to paint, smell flowers, look at bugs and play in the sand at our beach.

Evelynne doesn't like: Being told "no"//Timeouts//Getting her diaper changed. You know, the usual.

Favorite foods:
fruit snacks// Carrots// Pizza// Cheerios// Fruit pouches// cheese crackers// All fruits//  Ice cream// green smoothies

Sleep:
We changed her sleeping schedule and started putting her to bed at 8:00pm. It has been so great because she's falling asleep much faster at night and she doesn't normally wake up until 7:30-8:00. By that time I am ready to get our day started. We both seem to fancy this schedule much better then our previous one.

What you learned how to do this month:
Her new words this month are "Tweet, Tweet", "Quack quack", "Night night" (ni ni), "Bye,bye" (be be) and "Hot" (hiech) A total of 11 words now including animal sounds. Her newest "signing word is "bug" though she doesn't need to sign it to let me know one's in the room. The girl hates creepy crawlers.. I wonder where she gets it?? *facepalm

Things that took place this month:

Your Fourth of July was a blast! We went over to our friends house for Burgers and other yummies but you ditched every kind of food and just ate five pieces of watermelon instead. People were amazed by your watermelon eating skills.... And you don't like fireworks, yet.
We have been going on lots of walks lately and you are loving every second. I love how curious about life and adventure you are getting. You want to stop and smell every flower we pass by, you want to touch every bug we pass unless it's a big one then you're a bit terrified, you like to touch every tree, and wave at everything as we pass by. I just love you. You constantly remind me daily to slow down and smell the roses.
We've been loving all the thunderstorms we've been getting. Lots of paintings and colorings on the fridge.
We went berry picking!!! And you ate about half of the berries we picked. Blueberries and raspberries. It was so much fun! Minus the heat (blah!) It made us both tired and it made you grumpy ;)

Our favorite summer toddler activities

Our summers here can be quite miserable if you don't have anything planned. If it's not humid out it's most likely raining (or both!) I love rain but hate humidity. So Evelynne and I try to keep ourselves busy and do our best to make summer fun!! Out of curiosity, am I the   only one craving Pumpkin Spice Frappachinos??? Okay lets get back to my summer post. ;)

Here are some activities Little Love and I do together and I can't wait to read yours and hopefully get some more ideas!!

1. Go berry picking// I love picking fruit and going to farmers markets. It's so much fun and I feel like it's introducing Evelynne at a young age to where fruit and veggies come from. It was always a tradition I wanted so when I started a family with my hubsters we decided berry picking was a great tradition. It's also so much fun to do it with good friends.

2.Mall// This is an all year fun thing to do but particularly in summer/winter you will find us here a lot! Maybe near a starbucks. ;)

3. Beach time// We have a little beach where we live that Evelynne loves to go too. It was my favorite place to spend time with Jesus when I was pregnant with her so watching that place be one of her favorite places to go and play makes me so happy. It brings back so many memories of me being down there through out my pregnancy with her. She loves playing in the sand and sitting in the water.

4. Making smoothies & Popsicles// umm fun! & healthy.

Going swimming// If not our favorite activity it's in our tops. Especially when there's watermelon involved. :)
